Mission Purpose

Mission Purpose:
The Lenten Soup Suppers helps Immanuel Lutheran Church to accomplish
its mission of Equipping the Saints for Ministry by providing fellowship opportunities, and by providing opportunities for organizations served by the congregation to serve their fellow members, allowing them to more easily worship on a work night without the challenge of also cooking and cleaning up for an evening meal. Any excess funds received over the cost of the materials needed, will be donated to a mission outside of Immanuel Lutheran Church, extending our equipping function through the ministry of others in our world.
How Ministry Fulfills Purpose:
Ministers provide midweek meals on Wednesday evenings during the Lenten season. Groups wishing to serve a Soup Supper do food preparation, serving, and clean-up for a meal during Lent, usually between the two Wednesday night services. A Coordinator oversees recruiting of group hosts, and collection/distribution of donations proceeding from suppers.
