Don’t forget to save the Kemps and Golden Guernsey Milk Caps. The school gets 5 cents for each milk cap we send in. Deposit them in the yellow bin for milk caps near the mailboxes. A special thank to Matthew Rudd who collected 1400 caps last school year. That is $70 worth of support for Immanuel Lutheran School. Great Job Matt!!! |

Friday, 25 July 2008 |
A newer, larger wheelchair has been donated to Immanuel. We have an opportunity to send the older wheelchair to Balad, Iraq-just north of Baghdad. The Iraqi people in that area have been hit hard by the war. Some of them are bedridden only because there are not enough wheelchairs. If you have any questions or would like to make a donation toward the shipping charges please contact the church office. |

ANNOUNCING THE NEW PALS PROGRAM! |
Friday, 25 July 2008 |
It is the Special Needs Ministry's goal to offer a special Pal for those children with special needs who need one-on-one assistance during Sunday School. Children will be paired with their Pal who will be with them during the regular class, providing assistance and added direction and guidance as needed. If you would like your child to work with a Pal, please register him/her on the Pals Program form located at the information desk and place it in Abigail Schlie's mailbox. If you are interested in volunteering as a Pal, please sign-up at the information desk. You don't have to have a special degree for this--just lots of patience and love! As a Pal you would accompany your child to Sunday School class and help him/her with the lessons. You would not have to teach; although, you may find it helpful to make some adaptations as needed to meet the needs of your child. If you have any questions, please contact Abigail Schlie. By the way, thank you to everyone who donated money to help begin a Special Needs Resource library. The books will be made available very soon. You can still contribute anytime to help purchase books. Please mark "Special Needs Library" in the memo of your check. If you would like to donate a book in someone's name, please indicate that too. Thank you! |

Pastor Ben Squires is looking for volunteers to serve in the following ways. . . Archivist In the process of the Nursery remodeling, we have come across many boxes of Immanuel memorabilia and archive materials. We need someone (or a team) to sort through these materials, organize them, and prepare them for long-term storage. An interest in history and organization would make you perfect for preserving the history of God’s people in this place. Piano Player On the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month, at 1:00 PM, Pastor Ben leads a chapel service at the Capitol Hill Senior Apartments (Capitol Drive & Calhoun). He needs someone willing to accompany this small group on piano for 3 hymns each time. Even if you are only occasionally available, it would be great to have you serve these people in this way. If you are interested in either of these, please contact Pastor Ben. |

We are knitters/crocheters who enjoy working with yarn but our budget is very limited. You have an opportunity to help. ►Bring in your current Michael’s or Joann’s coupon so we can purchase yarn at a discount. Put them in Pat Behling’s mailbox at the end of the mailboxes. ►Donate money to be used to buy yarn. Put money in an envelope and mark for knitting/crocheting group. ►Drop off any yarn in the bookstore and we will put it to good use. We have such a wonderful group of people at our knitting/crochet group that we have decided to meet every Tuesday from 6:30-8:30. People are working on prayer shawls, baby booties and hats for babies and soldiers for now, but I’m sure that will grow as we see a need. This is a ministry of our Lord here at Immanuel–reaching out to others while enjoying each other’s company. We share ideas and laughter. If you want to knit/crochet you don’t need to make a weekly commitment, or even know how to knit/crochet. We invite you to come and share some time with us. Get to know some great sisters in Christ. We want to get to know you too. We do not discriminate against age or sex. |

Donate Religious Materials |
Monday, 28 January 2008 |
Collection of Religious Materials is a continual project at Immanuel which will focus on collecting and recycling used religious materials primarily to third world countries. People around the world are hungry for Christian literature, but in many nations it is either not available or too costly for people to purchase. An organization known as International Christian Literature Distributors, Inc. was founded in 1961 and ships over 1600 pounds of material per week to over 50 countries. What we will do at Immanuel is to provide a drop box location here at church for our families to bring their Bible, tracts, devotionals, study books, Bible story books, unmarked Sunday School materials, Christian cassettes, postage stamps, and even greeting and Christmas card fronts. This will be an ongoing project, so bring your donations anytime. Help with postage is also most welcome. A member’s family will deliver these materials to the organization’s warehouse in Minneapolis. The labeled collection box at Immanuel will be in the front of the office. |

About a year and a half ago we had a terrific outpouring of support for our military men and women. We sent them large boxes of snacks, toiletries, games etc. Since then we have sent birthday cards, small boxes, phone cards, religious material etc. However, now the monies in the military account have been depleted. If you would like to participate in continuing this outreach to our military men and women, please respond by helping replenish the military account. If you would like you may use the “Green Mission Envelopes” and mark military. Please see display in Fellowship Hall. |
