At the request of residents of the Capitol Hill Senior Apartments, Immanuel is providing devotional services twice a month. While some of these residents have churches, many either do not or are living far from their home church. Each Chapel service includes hymns, prayers, Bible readings, and a short devotional message. These services provide them with encouragement in the faith, a pastoral contact, and a way to reach out to their neighbors with the Gospel. Immanuel members have the opportunity to be out in the community, show caring, and share the Gospel. Immanuel members can do this by attending services, befriending those at services, and/or offering to sing/play piano. Capitol Hill Senior Apartments are located at the intersection of Calhoun Road & Capitol Drive in Brookfield. The Chapel is on the 3rd floor of the main building. Services are held the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 1 p.m. and last 30-45 minutes. Contact the Church Office for more information. The annual budget supports 1/3 of this cost, a grant supports another 1/3, and the rest must be raised in special mission offerings. Contributions can be specifically designated for this ministry on a check or offering placed in the offering plate, or brought/mailed to the office. The Giving Tree ministry’s aim is to provide Christmas to those who are less fortunate. The first week in November, four Lutheran schools in the inner city are contacted. Names of the entire family, and the children’s ages and sizes are requested. Name tags are made with first names only and placed on the tree (set up in the Fellowship Hall) by the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Members of Immanuel are asked to take a name off the tree, sign their name on the sign up sheet, buy a gift, wrap it, and place it under the tree at church by the due date. Sometimes, instead of a gift, families have received $100 Pick 'n Save gift cards to provide them with a Christmas dinner. There have also been times when a family in need has contacted the church. This mission has been blessed to provide to all those in need. For more information, contact Terry Krueger. Giving Tree Profile Page |

The Immanuel Lutheran Church Quilters, a support ministry of Women in Ministry, is an all-women’s group whose goal is to give comfort to individuals who are suffering and their families. They meet on 1st and 3rd (and sometimes 5th) Wednesdays during the months of Sept. – Nov. and Jan. – May, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Fellowship Hall. Once quilts have been constructed and sewn, the quilters attach a card to identify Immanuel as well as a Bible verse for the recipient’s encouragement. Quilts are then taken to recipients at Joy House, the Milwaukee Rescue Mission, Froedtert Hospital, and the Salvation Army. Quilts are also given to Immanuel members who are gravely ill or their families. Contact Fritzy Eggold for more information. |
