1. Mark and Mary Gronemeyer

Mark and Mary Gronemeyer, of Pewaukee, are transfers to Immanuel from Elm Grove Lutheran. One of the Gronemeyers’ two daughters, Lisa Strand, and her husband Andy and their six children are also Immanuel members.

Mark is a former dentist, and Mary worked as his assistant.

This Christmas, Mary and Mark are looking forward to their family Christmas Eve traditions. Each Christmas Eve, the family goes out for pizza together. Then they enjoy some quality time at Mark and Mary’s house in the evening (where they’re sure to enjoy Mark and Mary’s favorite Spritz cookies). They wind up the evening with the 11:00 candlelight service at Immanuel. Mary says she is always moved while singing “Silent Night” by candlelight.

1. Tom and Shelley Schoewe and their daughters Liz and Allie come to Immanuel from Our Redeemer. The Schoewe family lives in Menomonee Falls and is pleased that Immanuel is close to home. They also enjoy the traditional service format of most worship services. Additionally, they feel welcome at our church: they were already friends with some Immanuel member families, and have since found many other friendly people in our congregation.

We have several new members to our congregation this holiday season:

1. Mabel Neitzke is a recent transfer to Immanuel from St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha. Mabel married Immanuel member Norbert Neitzke in May 2007. Mabel says she clicks with Pastor Schneider especially, and likes the style of Immanuel’s services.

Mabel and Norbert live in New Berlin, but are spending the winter in their mobile home in Mesa, AZ, so you may have to wait until spring to welcome this new member to our congregation! While in Arizona, Mabel enjoys playing cards with friends and reading.

Mabel says she prefers a white Christmas, but wouldn’t trade her time in Arizona for a few days of snow (especially considering the shoveling that comes with them). Years ago, Mabel says, her holiday tradition was putting on a Christmas brunch for her family. This would be quite a task today, as she has seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren! These days, she’s still busy in the kitchen: baking 25 varieties of Christmas cookies to share with her fellow card players.  Please make this snowbird feel welcome at Immanuel!

Immanuel has several new families joining us this Spring -

1. Brad and Marta Gillespie recently moved to Milwaukee and found Immanuel when they were seeking a church close to their home. Brad is transferring to Immanuel from St. Paul’s Lutheran in Milwaukee, while Marta is transferring in from Prince of Peace Lutheran in Menomonee Falls.

Marta says having music geared toward the younger generation at Immanuel is a nice change of pace. She has been involved in Young Life and Bible studies in the past, and looks forward to pursuing similar avenues at Immanuel. Marta also loves to do scrapbooking in her free time.

Brad loves sports, especially golf. The couple enjoys the outdoors, and looks forward to visiting Marta’s parents’ cabin up north, where they often spend time fishing. They also like to go camping.

Marta and Brad are currently preparing for the birth of their first child, a boy, who is expected to arrive in June. Please welcome this young family to our congregation!

1. Steven (Steve) and Jennifer (Jen) Greasby married last April, and have since been looking for a church to call their own. Steve was a member of Mt. Olive in Milwaukee, while Jen attended Divine Redeemer in Hartland (she taught kindergarten Sunday School there too). Since the couple now resides in Wauwatosa, Divine Redeemer was a far drive away. Mt. Olive didn’t offer contemporary worship, which Jen loves. At Immanuel, they found both distance and worship style compatible with their desires. Steve says they both like the order of services: fairly traditional but flexible for different seasons of the Church year, so that overall the atmosphere stays fresh. They also have both connected with the pastors’ sermons.

Steve is a software engineer at Vilter Manufacturing. Jen works in corporate learning at Rockwell Automation.

Jen likes to do crafts, especially using stamps to make greeting cards. Steve is part of the Wauwatosa Curling Club, which he compares to shuffleboard on ice (he is also partial to the fact that it takes place indoors during the winter!). The couple enjoys traveling, and, Steve says, are relishing the ride of sharing life experiences together.

Get to know these newlyweds at the 10:45 service!
