Saints in Service - Michael and Muriel Paul PDF Print E-mail

Immanuel’s mission is to “Equip Saints to Make Disciples.” In this portion of our Messenger, we highlight two of our “saints,” Michael Paul and Muriel Eden-Paul, who are living out their Christian calling, successfully integrating their faith into their everyday lives.

Michael and Muriel are involved in a variety of ministry activities at Immanuel. Michael is a Boy Scout  leader for Troop 61. In April, he led CPR instruction for the Boy Scouts, an event that was also open to the congregation at large. He hopes to repeat this crucial training quarterly.

For the past five years, Muriel has volunteered two days each week as an art teacher for grades 2 through 8 at Immanuel Lutheran School. Last year, she began applying her love of art in a new direction: she started Artist In Ministry, a ministry for people with art skills who wanted to apply them in ways that would support other ministries going on at Immanuel. So far, the Artist In Ministry team has created a Noah's Ark mural in the infant Child Care room, stenciled the school name and lion mascot on the Field House (gym) walls, made colorful, painted banners for Kingdom Quest, and painted the set for the Immanuel Lutheran School spring play, Nuts!.

This spring, Muriel also served as a member of the Director of Youth and Discipleship interview committee.

Saints in Service - Nathaniel and Terri Scheid PDF Print E-mail
Immanuel’s mission is to “Equip Saints to Make Disciples.” In this portion of our Messenger, we highlight two of our “saints,” Nathaniel and Terri Scheid, who are living out their Christian calling, successfully integrating their faith into their everyday lives.

The Scheids are busy raising a young family: daughters Daphne, 8, and Chloe, 6, are in second and first grades, respectively. Why do they serve at Immanuel (and encourage others to do so) when many in their situation would say life is too hectic?

“Make time for friends and fellowship because those people will always be there for you,” Terri says. “The people at Immanuel are an important part of our daily life and not a day goes by that we don’t talk to someone from church or school.”

Immanuel’s mission is to “Equip Saints to Make Disciples.” In this portion of our Messenger, we highlight one of our “saints,” Terry Krueger, who is living out her Christian calling, successfully integrating faith into her everyday life.

Since joining Immanuel 12 years ago, Terry has gotten involved in ministry at Immanuel by serving in a variety of leadership roles in all seasons. In the holiday season, she sets up the Giving Tree project and is a chairwoman of the Christmas Mission Community Dinner. In the spring, she coordinates the Lenten Soup Suppers and prepares the Easter Baskets for Shut-ins. She also arranges the Confirmation Recognition Brunch. Year-round, she leads the Kitchen Committee and Young at Heart, and is one of Immanuel’s three Thrivent Congregational Coordinators.

Terry says the ministry she is currently most passionate about is Young at Heart. Young at Heart provides fellowship and activities to adults ages 62 and up from Immanuel and the surrounding community. Usually the group enjoys four events per year, one during each season (i.e. the baseball game is held in the summer).
