How this Ministry Operates:

SCRIP (a term that means “substitute money”) is a stewardship program that enables participants to give money to Immanuel without having to alter their budgets or sell door to door. The SCRIP coordinator purchases gift cards at a discounted rate (anywhere from two to fifteen percent) and re-sells them for face value, with the difference going to Immanuel. Anyone can purchase cards for grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, and retail stores and support Immanuel through these everyday purchases.

Stewardship Made Easy:

One of the goals the members of the SCRIP team have is to continue to raise awareness of this stewardship opportunity. SCRIP is a way to support Immanuel, without dramatically changing the way you shop or your budget. Rather, all it takes is a little planning ahead.

The results of their efforts are already paying off – literally. In December, Immanuel benefitted from more than $2,000 in profits from sales earlier in the year. That same month, Immanuel also turned over $3,100 in profits from purchases made between August and October, when SCRIP started a new tuition reimbursement program. This $3,100 benefits Immanuel Lutheran Church and School and specific families as tuition reimbursement.

Comments from satisfied SCRIP customers:

“SCRIP is helping fund my tuition and Immanuel.”

“I didn’t realize how easy it was to support this mission and Immanuel.”

How to Get Involved:

Get the word out – tell family and friends about SCRIP and how it benefits Immanuel and families. Talk to Immanuel members, too, and encourage them to purchase gift cards through the program.

Immanuel members may purchase these cards at the SCRIP table near the church office between services on Sunday mornings.

Members may also help with selling SCRIP - sellers should have a desire to raise money for Immanuel and be available from approximately 8:45-10:45 Sundays.

Questions? Contact Trish Sauers or stop by the SCRIP table on Sunday.
