A Little Relief

There are kids in need all over the world, and the kids in your neighborhood can help them!
Ask the parents in your neighborhood if they’d be willing to help organize a kid-to-kid relief effort to help a children’s charity of their choice. Make your project a one-time event or even a quarterly or seasonal outreach. Here are a few ideas to help you get started:
Whatever avenue of outreach you choose, add a personal element to your project. Let children in your neighborhood make and sign cards to accompany the gifts. Take a group snapshot to send along. (Check with parents first to obtain permission). Helpful hint: Group Publishing’s Operation Kid-to-Kid program can help you get started – check it out at www.ok2k.org. Instant Intentions Ask recipients to write back to your kids and send pictures of themselves. The more kids can get to know the needs and hearts of other children around the nation or world, the more they’ll realize the need to spread the love of Jesus far and near. - From the book, Field Guide to Neighborhood Outreach by Group Publishing, 2007. Note: Immanuel’s Giving Tree (contact Terry Krueger) and Operation Christmas Child (contact Sally and Bob Denkert) are great ministries to get your kids involved in helping other kids. – Lisa Jaeger, Director of Assimilation and Deployment |
