Everyone has to eat, right? So why not eat with your neighbors?

You’ll have fun, get to know them better, and gather some great new recipes in the mix. Best of all, you’ll nurture relationships that can turn into friendships. Then from friendships, you can take the next important step of sharing your faith. Who knew that a meal could make so much happen? So grab that cookbook and those oven mitts, and start cookin’!

“They worshipped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity – all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people.” – Acts 2:46-47

A themed potluck makes a common idea a lot more fun. Pick a theme that suits you or the time of year: Italian, Hawaiian, 70s, picnic basket, Christmas in July, or green. You get the idea…the possibilities are endless! Buy or make simple invitations, and deliver them personally. Provide a few suggestions so neighbors will know what you’re thinking. For example, if you’re going green, you might suggest salad, broccoli soup, spinach pasta in pesto sauce, and key lime pie. Don’t forget to tell everyone to wear their favorite green T-shirt! This way, folks will know to dress casually as well as bring something that may or may not be salad.

Instant Intentions

Have invitations for the second potluck ready to hand out as guests leave. Fill in everything but the theme and location. Offer your home, but be open to others who’d like to host. Enlist everyone’s suggestions for the theme.
