Spotlight on...Wheeling For Healing 2009 PDF Print E-mail

How This Ministry Operates:

Wheeling For Healing is an annual bike ride that benefits the Community Memorial Hospital Cancer Care Center. In the past, dollars raised have been used for:
  • educational materials for patients and families
  • a computer work station
  • nutritional supplements for patients undergoing therapy
  • remodeling dressing and changing rooms and chemotherapy treatment rooms (i.e. adding televisions to chemo rooms)
  • a backlit ceiling panel in the radiation treatment room (patients see a lighted mural while lying down)

Fellowship, Fitness, and Fun!

Riders on the Immanuel team enjoy a fun time bicycling with family and friends. Their participation also sends a message of caring for our community. Two years ago, Fred Eggold was interviewed by the Waukesha Freeman. He gave a great witness to his faith.

Gear Up for This Year’s Event!

One of Immanuel’s ChristCare groups, led by Carole and Elaine Schmeda, coordinates the Immanuel team. Their goal is to have the largest team participating – this means at least 130 riders! This year’s ride will take place August 8th. The route is through Menomonee Falls. Watch your bulletin for more information about registration. Or, contact Carole or Elaine Schmeda at (262) 695-9168 about signing up to be on Immanuel’s team.

Other Ways to Participate:

If you can’t make it to this year’s ride, you can still help in many ways:
  • Recruit others to ride as part of Immanuel’s team
  • Pray for safety and the success of the ride
  • Pray for cancer patients – that they will be able to tolerate treatment and be completely healed
  • Donate to the Community Memorial Foundation on behalf of the Immanuel riding team
