| Construction Update as of June 28 |

| We, unfortunately, are still waiting for a full building permit from the City of Brookfield. The Building Department is doing their final review of our resubmitted materials, but they have been busy dealing with residents' complaints from last weekend's flooding. In the meantime, Berghammer has been doing exploratory demolition of the fellowship hall to check out the roof area, Later the roof over Rooms A&B will be removed and trusses will be installed. This work is necessary to support our new heating and air conditioning unit and also to handle anticipated snow loads and water drainage from the new classroom. The playset is being temporarily removed and will be reinstalled at the end of construction. Our grading contractor is standing by to begin the new parking lot and driveway as soon as the permit is received. This is expected to start during the week of June 28th. The classroom footings will then be poured and the detention pond will be enlarged and reconfigured. The replacement of our boilers continues and should be finished this week. The rest of the kitchen cabinets have been removed. We are also making final decisions relating to the technology and outlets needed in the new classroom and fellowship hall areas. The cabling for our present audio-visual system will have to be moved from the storage closet in the fellowship hall as this area will become a hallway to the new addition. Just a reminder that the fellowship hall is a construction zone and no longer available for use for meetings or events. This also means that the Book Store will be closed until the fall. We encourage you to look through the windows of the fellowship hall doors to see the progress, but please stay out of that area for your safety. Keep praying that we receive our full building permit soon! |
